If you also enjoy walking along promenades, you’ll love the Limassol Promenade. It’s a perfect place for a relaxing walk or an active workout.
As you stroll, you’ll pass sculptures, children’s playgrounds, cozy cafes, restaurants, and areas for various sports activities. And let’s not forget the ships sailing into the port, constantly changing the seascape. The streets wind between traditional buildings adorned with colorful balconies and windows that instantly catch the eye.
A visit to the old market is a must—markets, in my opinion, are often the most authentic places in any city, and Limassol is no exception. Here, you’ll find not only fresh local produce but also souvenirs and handmade crafts. I couldn’t resist picking up some olive oil, delicious marmalade, and a few ceramic dishes decorated with traditional patterns as souvenirs.

There’s a good chance you’ll get lucky and find yourself in the middle of an event, as the square often hosts exhibitions, markets, concerts, and more. Limassol Marina
One of the best things to do in Limassol is to take a walk in the Marina. This prestigious location in the city is where you can admire the gleaming white yachts that add a touch of luxury to the city’s landscape. Cyprus Motor Museum
One could say that this museum is a true discovery for car enthusiasts. But I’m sure even those who aren’t interested in cars will enjoy it. Spanning approximately 3,000 square meters, the museum showcases over a hundred classic, collectible, and historically significant cars.
The story behind the museum’s founding is simple—rally racing veteran D. Mavropoulos had a vision: to create a space where classic car enthusiasts could explore, connect, and experience automotive history firsthand. As a result, in 2014, the Cyprus Motor Museum opened its doors. Today, it is not just a place where rare and vintage cars are exhibited, but a unique experience that takes you behind the scenes of automotive history.
Practical information: The museum is open to visitors Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission for adults is 15 euros, with discounted rates for children.

Here are some of the top beaches to explore:
- Akti Olympion Beach is a wide stretch of sand that extends for about two kilometers. As a city beach, it’s naturally quite busy, especially during peak season. Personally, I prefer more secluded and private spots. However, despite the crowds, this beach is easily accessible, very clean, and offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities.
- Governor’s Beach is a great choice for families with children. It’s peaceful and more secluded, while the incredibly soft sand invites you to take a stroll along the shore or simply relax and soak up the sun. The beach is located a bit outside the city, so you’ll need to drive to get there.
- Dasoudi Beach is a great choice for those who love comfort. Here, you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas, find plenty of restaurants nearby, and enjoy various activities, including playgrounds for children. Thanks to its central location, it’s also a convenient option if you’re not renting a car.
- Although Pissouri Beach is a bit farther from Limassol, I found it to be the most beautiful in the region. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs, it offers stunning views, crystal-clear waters, and a peaceful vibe. The mix of sand and pebbles makes it perfect for both swimming and relaxation. It’s also great for water sports like jet skiing and windsurfing. With charming taverns nearby serving fresh seafood, it’s an ideal spot to spend a full day by the sea.
Kolossi Castle
If you picture a castle as something straight out of a fairy tale or a movie, this one will certainly not match that vision. This fortress is a massive, square-shaped structure built from limestone blocks, featuring small windows instead of grand towers. Once a Crusader stronghold, the castle consists of three floors: the ground floor housed the kitchen and storage rooms, the second floor contained living quarters, and the top floor was used for defense. Located 12 kilometers west of Limassol, it stands in the village of Kolossi. The original version of the castle was built in the 13th century, later reconstructed into what is now believed to be a 15th-century structure.
Next to the castle, you can still see the remains of a sugarcane mill, proof that sugar production once took place here. At the time, it was one of the most profitable industries. The Knights of the Order of St. John also produced and exported wine, most notably the famous Commandaria. Today, this sweet dessert wine remains one of Cyprus’s traditional wines and is considered one of the oldest in the world. I highly recommend visiting local wineries to explore the rich traditions behind Commandaria wine production.

Getting to Limassol is easy, whether you’re arriving from abroad or another part of Cyprus. The nearest airport is Larnaca International Airport (LCA), located about 67 kilometers away. One of the most convenient options for travelers is the Limassol Airport Express bus, which offers a direct and affordable transfer from the airport to Limassol’s city center. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes, with multiple departures throughout the day.
For those who prefer more flexibility, taxis are available 24/7 outside the airport, with fares typically ranging from €70 to €90. When I don’t rent a car, I often use Welcome Pickups services.
If you prefer to explore Cyprus at your own pace, renting a car is a great choice. The drive from Larnaca to Limassol takes around 45 minutes via the well-maintained A1 highway. This option is ideal for those planning to visit attractions beyond the city.

Limassol has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. The weather starts warming up in early spring, with March and April bringing pleasant temperatures perfect for outdoor exploration. By May, daytime temperatures reach around 24–27°C, while in June, they rise to 28–30°C. July and August are the hottest months, with highs of 30–33°C, and almost no rainfall during summer.
