This monastery for women was built in the seaside resort around the year 1500 when Cyprus was under Venetian rule. Today, the Ayia Napa Monastery is considered the oldest historical site in the area. Even more interesting is the fact that it has never been destroyed throughout its long history. Interestingly, at that time, the monastery was named after Saint Napa, the patroness of forests. Her name later inspired the town’s name—Ayia Napa.
Today, visitors are welcomed by a renovated monastery building that also houses a museum. While every traveler has their own preferences and interests, I personally have a deep appreciation for authenticity, antiquity, and architecture that bears witness to a long and rich history. Therefore, for me, this monastery was truly extraordinary—like stepping back in time.

The Sculpture Park is a fascinating and peaceful place for a walk. What makes this park even more remarkable is the variety of materials used in the sculptures. They are crafted from wood, marble, limestone, metal, and more, each reflecting different artistic styles. This diversity ensures that every visitor will find something to appreciate. Personally, I was captivated by the park’s unique concept, its seamless fusion of art and nature, and, of course, the fascinating sculptures.
Tip: The park is quite large, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring sun protection, and carry enough water. Summers here can be especially hot.
Nissi Beach
This beach is often referred to as the most beautiful in all of Cyprus. To be honest, I wouldn’t argue with that—after visiting several beaches on the island, Nissi became one of my favorites. I am always mesmerized by the sight of soft white sand and turquoise seawater—this stunning combination was exactly what I found here.
When I visited the beach during the off-season, it had a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. In peak season, however, the beach transforms into a lively hotspot with music, parties, and entertainment.
After spending time by the sea, you might want to grab a bite to eat. If you get hungry at Nissi Beach, I recommend stopping by Petra Snack Bar—a great choice for delicious food at very reasonable prices. However, if you’re looking for exquisite flavors, impeccable service, and an elegant setting, don’t hesitate to visit Glasshouse Lounge Restaurant, located near Nissi Beach. Whether you’re staying nearby or just exploring the area, visiting Nissi Beach is without a doubt one of the top things to do in Ayia Napa.

Parko Paliatso Luna Park
This amusement park enjoys fame not only in Ayia Napa but throughout Cyprus. Since opening its doors in 1999, it has provided fun, entertainment, and adrenaline-filled experiences to visitors of all ages. Spanning an impressive 30,000 square meters, the park also includes a spacious parking lot accommodating around 300 vehicles at once. Within this expansive area, visitors can enjoy more than 25 attractions.
The Sling Shot stands out as the largest and most popular attraction. I must admit, I wouldn’t dare try it myself, but for thrill-seekers who love heights, it guarantees an exhilarating experience. Additionally, the park features a towering Ferris wheel that rewards riders with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Working Hours & Tickets: The amusement park operates only during the season, typically from mid-March to November, and is open daily from 6:00 p.m. to midnight. Ticket prices are divided into three categories, ranging from €25 to €52, depending on the visitor’s age.
Thalassa Sea Museum
If you want to explore one of the most impressive museums in Cyprus, head to the Ayia Napa Town Hall – the Thalassa Museum is located on the first floor of the building. Opened in 2005, this unique museum showcases a fascinating collection of sea-related exhibits. Do you know how many years some of the museum’s oldest artifacts date back? It’s truly impressive – they are up to 7,000 years old! Interestingly, this is the first museum of its kind in the Mediterranean region, highlighting the sea’s influence and significance in the island’s history. The exhibits range from the Paleolithic era and Prehistory to the present day.
Opening Hours & Ticket Prices: The museum welcomes visitors on Mondays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Tuesdays to Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The museum is closed on Sundays. Ticket prices are €4 for adults, €2.50 for students, and €1.50 for schoolchildren.
Ayia Napa Promenade
One of the best things to do in Ayia Napa is to take a stroll along the promenade. Scenic coastal walks are my weakness, so I was delighted to discover that Ayia Napa has a promenade—and not just any promenade, but one that is beautifully designed, well-maintained, and full of charm and vibrancy, offering breathtaking scenery. Along the way, you’ll find numerous shops, cafes, and restaurants, making it the perfect spot to sit back and indulge—not only in the views but also in a glass of Cypriot wine, a cup of coffee, or some of the finest delicacies of Cypriot cuisine.
If you are traveling with children, you’ll find a few open-air playgrounds along the promenade where the little ones can have fun.
Tip: Be sure to visit the promenade in the evening as the sun sets—walking along the coast, soaking in the breathtaking view, is an unforgettable experience.

This beach is another jewel of the Cypriot coastline, featuring several shores as it is made up of charming coves. One of them may be noisier and more vibrant, while the other will appeal to those looking for a quieter place to relax. The signature feature of this beach is its pristine white sand and crystal-clear seawater.
In my opinion, this place will also appeal to those who enjoy a beach holiday with well-developed amenities. Here, you will find sunbed and umbrella rentals, taverns, beach bars, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy water activities such as jet skiing, pedal boating, and more.
Right next to Makronissos Beach, there is an archaeological site that I highly recommend visiting. The Makronissos Tombs date back to the Hellenistic and Roman periods. The site consists of a complex of around nineteen rock-cut tombs and a sanctuary, which is believed to have been used for burials in ancient times.
Bridge of Love
Just below the Sculpture Park, as you descend the hill, you will find another breathtaking natural wonder. Whether you call it Lovers’ Bridge or the Bridge of Love, this is not the kind of bridge we typically imagine. It is a natural masterpiece that looks even more impressive against the backdrop of crystal-clear waters. One end of the bridge emerges from the rocky shore, while the other descends into the alluringly clear sea.
This naturally formed rocky arch bridge is loved not only by tourists but also by lovers, especially on their most important day—their wedding. According to legend, if you kiss your beloved in the middle of the arch and make a wish, it is destined to come true.

One of the highlights is Cape Greco, an ideal escape from the busy resort areas. Stunning white cliffs rise above the sea, where waves crash against the rocks, creating a mesmerizing sound. Natural arches and sea caves add to the breathtaking scenery, showcasing nature’s artistry. Hiking trails wind through the area, offering scenic views, while diving enthusiasts can explore an impressive underwater world.
Protaras
Just 8 kilometers from Ayia Napa, Protaras offers a peaceful retreat from its lively neighbor. Here, visitors will find breathtaking idyllic beaches, where the turquoise sea lazily kisses the sandy shore. While Protaras is generally quiet, its main street has a bit more energy, yet never feels overwhelming. In the evenings, live music drifting from cafes adds to the area’s charming atmosphere.
For the most stunning beaches, Fig Tree Bay is a must-visit, often ranked among Europe’s most beautiful. Located just 7 kilometers from Ayia Napa, this water park is a must-visit for those looking to add some excitement to their trip. It doesn’t matter whether you’re traveling with children, your significant other, or a group of friends—this amusement park guarantees fun for everyone. One of its most distinctive features is its Greek mythology theme, which is both captivating and sparks curiosity. The park offers a wide range of attractions designed for visitors of different ages, ensuring plenty of activities for a full day of entertainment.
Practical Information: The park operates only during the warm season and opens on April 10. The entrance fee is 50 euros for adults (aged 13 and older), 30 euros for children aged 3 to 12, and free for children under 2. Occasionally, limited-time offers allow you to purchase tickets with discounts of up to 50%!
Varosha
One of the best things to do from Ayia Napa is to visit Varosha, a place filled with history and mystery. Located in the Famagusta district, Varosha remained a closed-off zone for many years. Once a thriving resort, it was abandoned in 1974 when Turkey sent its military into this part of the island. Around 39,000 residents were forced to leave their homes, turning the city into a deserted area. Varosha became a restricted zone, completely off-limits to civilians, and was often referred to as a ‘ghost town.
A historic moment came in 2020 when part of Varosha was reopened to visitors. However, this decision was met with opposition, particularly from those who had once called this place home and had been forced to leave.
Although Varosha is somewhat farther from Ayia Napa, I highly recommend visiting—it was truly the most unique experience I had on the island. As I walked through the abandoned streets of Varosha, I couldn’t help but feel like I had traveled back in time. I saw not only the empty buildings but also the inevitable touch of nature, irreversibly transforming the structures—even the asphalt.

The 425 bus runs from Larnaca Airport to the city center, where you can transfer to an intercity bus heading to Ayia Napa. Another option is the 711 bus, which offers a direct but slower route with multiple stops. If you’re traveling from Nicosia, Limassol, or Paphos, intercity buses connect these cities to Ayia Napa with regular departures.

An ATV or scooter is a fun way to explore the coastline and reach places like Cape Greco at your own pace. If you’re staying near the center, you might not even need a car, as most attractions are within walking distance. Taxis are available, but they can be pricey for short trips.
