Top Things To Do In Dubai With Family (+Free Places Map)
Dubai – a city of luxury, grandeur, and modern living that I truly love and always long to return to. I remember when I decided to visit Dubai with my child for the first time, I had my doubts – is this really a family-friendly destination? After all, Dubai is often associated with skyscrapers, shopping, and luxury experiences.
But once we arrived in the city, I quickly realized how many parks, beaches, and interactive attractions are hidden among the modern buildings. What surprised me most was watching my little one discover something new around every corner. Sometimes it was play areas, sometimes animals, or simply wide-open spaces to run around. Time honestly flew by, and I left convinced that Dubai with kids can be so much more fun than you might imagine. So, what are the best things to do in Dubai with family? Read on below to find out!
Things To Do In Dubai With Family
Dubai Miracle Garden
Have you ever seen 150 million flowers in one place? Probably not, which is why you shouldn’t miss the chance to visit the world’s largest flower garden – the Dubai Miracle Garden. This magical place transforms floral arrangements into stunning sculptures, characters, and structures that captivate every visitor.
As I walked through the garden, it felt almost surreal to be surrounded by so many colors and scents in the middle of the desert. My child loved running along the heart-shaped pathways and pointing out the giant floral sculptures – we ended up taking way more photos than I had planned!
Open from mid-November to mid-May, the Dubai Miracle Garden offers a truly unique experience that evolves with every season, as the displays are refreshed to surprise and delight visitors each year. Don’t forget your camera – this floral wonderland is one of Dubai’s most photogenic attractions!
Tip: Plan your visit in advance and book your tickets online to ensure an unforgettable experience at this spectacular garden.
Accommodation: Here are all your hotel options in Dubai.
Desert Safari
One of the best things to do in Dubai with family is experiencing a desert safari. Ride through the desert sands in a jeep, explore the vast expanse of the dunes on foot, or enjoy a camel trek across the golden landscape. Spending a night in the desert offers an even more unforgettable experience, especially with the romance of sleeping under a star-filled sky.
Children would love the camel rides and the chance to run around in the endless sand. Falcons, traditional shows, and the desert sunset are just some of the things that make this experience truly special for families.
Tip: You can choose between a day trip or an overnight desert excursion. However, I wouldn’t suggest venturing into the desert alone – it’s better to book a guided tour. The advantage of a tour is that all the details are handled for you, including transportation and logistics. Many packages also include meals, making the experience even more convenient and enjoyable.
Dubai Fountain
While visiting Dubai, you’ll likely explore the iconic Burj Khalifa, so don’t miss the chance to witness the spectacular Dubai Fountain – a sight that captivates both kids and adults. These mesmerizing dancing fountains are set in a man-made lake, with water jets shooting up to 152 meters into the air! Adding to the spectacle, the fountain’s design resembles a blooming flower. As the world’s largest performing fountain, it offers a breathtaking show of lights, music, and water.
When we visited, I was amazed by how magical the atmosphere felt – the music, the lights, the water all moving in perfect sync. My child was completely fascinated and couldn’t take their eyes off the show. We found it quite crowded near the edge of the lake, so we chose to watch from a little further back, which turned out to be more comfortable. The Dubai Fountain shows run daily every 30 minutes from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., and I’d definitely recommend seeing it at least once during your trip.
Tip: Visit the Dubai Fountain in the evening, after sunset, when it’s beautifully illuminated – the view is truly stunning. Best of all, the fountain show is free to watch. If you plan to visit the Burj Khalifa, I recommend purchasing your tickets in advance to avoid waiting in long lines later
Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo
Kids love aquariums, and Dubai is home to a massive aquarium and underwater zoo located in the world’s largest shopping mall. The Dubai Aquarium houses over 33,000 marine species representing 140 different kinds of sea creatures. Among its inhabitants are piranhas, tiger sharks, Humboldt penguins, and many other exotic animals.
The 48-meter-long glass tunnel allows visitors to experience the underwater world and observe marine life up close. Your kids will enjoy an exciting tour that introduces them to the wonders of the underwater world, expanding their knowledge while creating unforgettable memories.
Tip: Visit the Dubai Aquarium during weekdays or early in the morning to avoid large crowds and enjoy a more relaxed experience.
La Mer Beach
When it comes to things to do in Dubai with family, La Mer Beach is a must-visit destination. Located in the Jumeirah 1 district, this modern, well-maintained beach offers a wide range of entertainment options, making it easy to spend an entire day enjoying various activities.
When we visited, I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and relaxed the whole area felt compared to some of the busier beaches. My child loved the play areas and splashing around in the shallow water, while I enjoyed just sitting back and taking in the view of the Burj Khalifa. We also tried one of the cafes right on the beach – it was so convenient to grab a quick bite without leaving the waterfront.
If you’re into water sports, La Mer Beach has plenty to offer — you can try surfing, kayaking, or riding a jet ski. The beach also provides magical views of Dubai’s skyline, especially enchanting at sunset.
KidZania
KidZania is a hub of interactive activities that modern children will absolutely love. Indeed, learning is always better when it’s fun, right? KidZania is a 7,000-square-meter replica of a real city, where education and entertainment come together seamlessly. Designed for children aged 4–16, it offers around 70 exciting activities that encourage learning, spark curiosity, and develop creativity, teamwork, decision-making skills, and more.
This place features child-sized versions of real city buildings, such as police stations, fire departments, banks, shopping centers, pizzerias, and more, where children can immerse themselves in their chosen profession. For the youngest visitors, KidZania offers a daycare area where children up to 2 years old can spend their time.
Working Hours: from Sunday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with the last entry at 9 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays, it stays open an hour longer.
Ski Dubai
When visiting Dubai with kids, be sure to head to the Mall of the Emirates shopping center, where you’ll discover an unexpected attraction: a massive indoor skiing complex! At first, I thought somewhat skeptically about this place. How could a shopping mall possibly have a ski resort? Then again, considering it’s Dubai, what I saw far exceeded my expectations. Visitors can enjoy ski slopes, a sledding hill, ice sculptures, cozy igloo-style huts, and plenty of snow. I assure you, it’s a true winter experience. Open year-round, Ski Dubai welcomes both adults and young winter adventure enthusiasts.
Wild Wadi Waterpark
Water plays a key role in children’s entertainment, making Wild Wadi Waterpark a must-visit destination. Located opposite the iconic Jumeirah Burj Al Arab Dubai hotel, this open-air water park offers the perfect chance to enjoy water fun while soaking up the Arabian sun. You’ll discover a variety of attractions, including a large swimming pool, water slides, and many other exciting features.
When we visited, my child couldn’t get enough of the water slides – especially the ones designed for younger kids. I loved that there were plenty of shaded areas where we could take breaks, because the sun can get really strong. We grabbed some snacks from one of the cafes, which was super convenient after hours of splashing around.
Adventurous little ones can even try their hand at diving. This spot is definitely worth a visit as one of the top things to do in Dubai with family.
Working Hours: Wild Wadi Waterpark is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
JBR Beach
When traveling to Dubai with kids, don’t miss the must-visit JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence) Beach. This popular public beach is located in the neighborhood of the same name. Visitors can enjoy beachside fun, a wide selection of cafes and bars, and various entertainment options for both adults and children.
The beach welcomes guests with its clean, soft white sand, rentable sun loungers and umbrellas, jet skis, paddleboards, and other water activities. Kids will be excited to explore play areas and try out fun attractions.
Discover: Palm and JBR Beach Parasailing Adventure.
Children’s City
Children’s City is the perfect destination for families looking to combine fun and learning. It features themed activity areas offering entertainment and educational zones filled with practical and interactive experiences across various fields. Curious little ones are drawn to the planetarium, space exploration zone, creative workshops, Earth Sciences Gallery, and much more.
For children under six, there’s a specially designed area with age-appropriate activities tailored to inspire and engage them through play and discovery. When we visited, the absolute highlight was the magic carpet simulation – sharing that flying experience with my child was unforgettable.
Working Hours: Children’s City is open from Saturday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Fridays from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
VR Park
Would you like to challenge reality and blur the lines between perception and the real world? Then, experience it all at VR Park, the first of its kind in the Middle East. Here, you’ll face various real-life scenarios, play immersive games, embark on thrilling adventures, and take on exciting challenges.
The park appeals to visitors of all ages, offering a wide range of emotions – from adrenaline-pumping excitement to calmness and even fear. Try skydiving, ride the futuristic Dubai Drone, battle zombies, or stage a bank heist.
When we visited, my child tried a few of the attractions. Even though it’s not the cheapest experience in Dubai, it was absolutely worth it for the fun and excitement. VR Park is one of those places where dreams really do turn into virtual reality, leaving children with unforgettable memories.
IMG Worlds Of Adventure
Of course, one of the top things to do in Dubai with family is to visit IMG Worlds of Adventure. This amusement and adventure park is recognized as the largest indoor entertainment park in the world, spanning an area equal to 28 football fields. The park features five themed zones, each offering a variety of exciting activities.
You’ll be welcomed by video game and cartoon characters, superheroes, dinosaurs, thrilling roller coasters, and fun carousels. After an action-packed adventure, relax at one of the on-site restaurants or cafes and savor delicious local dishes.
Having visited all the major theme parks in Dubai with my child, I can honestly say that IMG Worlds of Adventure impressed me the most. The scale, the variety, and the immersive atmosphere made it stand out as our favorite park experience in the city. It’s the kind of place where both kids and adults can easily spend the whole day without ever getting bored.
Working Hours and Tickets: IMG Worlds of Adventure is open from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. For the best experience, book your tickets online in advance.
Global Village
Global Village is a one-of-a-kind destination that draws countless visitors from around the world each year, eager to experience its unique blend of culture, entertainment, and adventure. Specifically, operating from October to April, it offers the chance to explore nearly 90 countries through their cuisine, crafts, cultural showcases, and live performances — all within a single, sprawling venue. Personally, I was captivated by its grandeur, expansive spaces, and vibrant colors, which were far more impressive in person than in any pictures I had seen.
Furthermore, visiting Global Village feels like embarking on a journey around the world. You can savor traditional dishes, browse authentic souvenirs, and immerse yourself in diverse cultural experiences. For families, there’s even a amusement park packed with exciting rides and attractions for children of all ages.
Working Hours: Global Village open Sunday to Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and Thursday to Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Tuesdays are reserved for families and ladies only, except on public holidays.
Dubai Safari Park
Spanning 119 hectares, Dubai Safari Park is home to over 3,000 animals from around the world. You can discover around 50 species of reptiles, including Nile crocodiles, pythons, and geckos, as well as more than 110 bird species such as flamingos, peacocks, and African grey parrots. The park also shelters 17 types of primates, including chimpanzees, baboons, and lemurs, along with about 10 species of carnivores such as lions, tigers, cheetahs, and hyenas.
Designed to replicate the animals’ natural habitats, the park’s expansive enclosures create an immersive and authentic wildlife experience. As you explore the different themed zones, you’ll come across giraffes, zebras, elephants, hippos, and even the rare Arabian oryx.
One of the moments we enjoyed most at Dubai Safari Park was watching the giraffes up close. They are such graceful animals and always a favorite with kids. The monkeys, on the other hand, were the real stars with their playful jumps and funny antics, and my child couldn’t stop laughing watching them.
Working Hours: The park is open to visitors Monday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The last admission is at 3:30 p.m., and the final safari tour departs at 4:30 p.m.
Dubai Garden Glow
One of the most enchanting places to explore with children in Dubai is Dubai Garden Glow. The park is divided into themed zones, including Dinosaur Park and Glow Park, each offering a unique experience.
In the Dinosaur Park, you’ll see numerous roaring, life-sized dinosaurs of various sizes, along with fun play areas for children. The Glow Park comes alive after sunset, featuring countless illuminated sculptures in stunning colors. It’s hard to describe the magical atmosphere created by lit-up bunnies, pandas, fish, and many other animals, as well as fairy-tale-like light tunnels and artistic displays.
A small train runs through the park, offering affordable rides for kids. On-site cafes provide a variety of snacks and refreshments for hungry visitors.
We’ve already been to Dubai Garden Glow three times, and honestly, I think I want to go back even more than my child does. The sparkling tunnels and glowing animals feel like stepping straight into a fairy tale – each time is just as special as the first. For me, it’s one of those places I never get tired of, and that’s why I believe it’s one of the top things to do in Dubai with family.
Legoland Dubai
For many children, visiting Legoland is a dream come true — and in Dubai, it’s easy to make that dream a reality. In particular, Legoland Dubai is an exciting theme park filled with interactive experiences and thrilling adventures for kids. Explore a magical world featuring the Lego Factory and Lego City, dive into Lego Kingdoms, and discover the wonders of Lego Miniland and Lego Technic Twisters.
Embark on an underwater submarine adventure, ride the thrilling Dragon roller coaster, activate life-sized models with the push of a button, and pull yourself to the top of the Kid Power Towers using ropes. Additionally, the park features a Lego-themed water park, where water adventures unfold among giant Lego bricks. I have no doubt that a visit to Legoland will fill your children’s hearts with joy and create unforgettable memories too.
Motiongate Theme Park
Dubai is packed with entertainment options, offering activities for visitors of all interests. While exploring the city, don’t miss Motiongate, the largest Hollywood-inspired theme park in the Middle East. Specifically, this park unites three legendary Hollywood studios: Columbia Pictures, DreamWorks Animation, and Lionsgate.
The park features 27 adrenaline-pumping roller coasters and other exciting attractions. Visitors can also enjoy live shows and meet beloved animated characters such as Shrek and Fiona, Kung Fu Panda, and the mischievous Smurfs.
As I already mentioned, IMG Worlds of Adventure was the park we enjoyed the most in Dubai, but I would give Motiongate a strong second place. The unforgettable experiences and thrilling attractions in both parks made our family adventure truly special.
Tip: Motiongate and Legoland Dubai are located right next to each other, making it convenient to visit both parks in a single trip. Keep in mind that both parks are outside the city, so consider private transport or pre-arranged transfers for easier access.
